Gamakatsu DrymaxX - cold outside, hot inside!

Many exciting products are kept in one of the storage rooms of the Rute&Rolle magazine office. In the search of hooklink material, my eye fell on a stylish black suit. Lightweight, two piece… that made a good impression!

I quickly asked my colleagues if I could test the suit and they agreed as it was my size, but I had to write an article about it. A promise was made. Next weekend I slipped into the Gamakatsu DrymaxX Thermo Suit and it fitted perfectly! Double cuffs on both arms, a neoprene cuff with Velcro strap on the inside and the DryMaxx cuff with Velcro strap on the outside ensure that wind does not have any chance to get inside the suit. Cold usually comes from bottom to top, so the legs are also perfectly isolated with Velcro straps. An internal pocket for mobile phones and credit cards, two external pockets to keep your hands warm and removable hood are available. Nothing stands in the way for a nice fishing session now!

A strong and ice-cold easterly wind surprised me and I quickly went back home to get my gloves. At the lake, I prepared my rod and started fishing. The wind tried very hard, but it did not succeed to get me cold. With three layers of thin fleece underneath the suit on this occasion, I promised myself to wear less layers next time.

The next occasion came in the middle of winter, finally the time for ice fishing. And also on this occasion the suit performed at its very best! For hours I withstood the freezing wind without a problem. When the suit is worn over Fleece the breathing characteristics of 3 litres per 24H are fully used. Even after making dozens of holes in the ice, the skin remained dry. The suit is as comfortable as a second skin, easy to put on and off, and ‘last but not least’ the suit looks very stylish as well. The black colour also has an advantage that it makes you look slimmer…

The only thing I have not been able to test so far is its waterproof capacity, but as with the rest of the suit… I fully trust on the excellent quality of the suit and specifications of the manufacturer. The materials used such as cotton and fleece are very warm and comfortable. The Gamakatsu suit is available in sizes M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL.
